Visit Mycenae

Mycenae was the regal city of the Mycenaean civilization  where King Agamemnon ruled around 1200 B.C. It was the most powerful and wealthiest kingdom of its time  with colonies spreading from northern Greece all the way to the south Aegean islands and from Cyprus to Sicely. Homer describes Mycenae in both the Iliad and Odyssey. In our days you can visit the site and see the complex of the palace ruins, the legendary Lion Gate and the eastern fortress and cistern, whose 99 steps lead to a “secret” water source. Don’t  forget to visit the museum and the colossal monument which is said to be King Agamemnon’s tomb. (around 30 minutes drive from Tolo)
